Mehmet Aktaş is a writer and producer and founder of mîtosfilm. In 2018 he founded the film production company Epik Filmproduktion GmbH with Hüseyin Tabak
«Memories on Stone» (2014) by Shawkat Amin Korki won numerous awards at international film festivals. It was Iraq's submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Aktaş is well known for films like Bahman Ghobadi’s «No one Knows about Persian Cats» (2009), which won the “Un Certain Regard“ award at the film festival in Cannes. His production «Reseba – The Dark Wind» (2016) also won a lot of awards worldwide and was selected as the Iraqi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards in 2018. The movie «House without a Roof» by Soleen Yusef won prizes all over the world and received the First Steps Award (best film). «The Legend of the Ugly King» premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the award for best documentary at the film festival Hof.
