Tomorrow was War

Tomorrow was War (film, in development)

The EU is broken up and right-wing populist forces are building a new government in Germany. War is on the horizon. Jonas (33), who has only ever known peace, prosperity and security, is about to be drafted. In order not to abandon his convictions and his belief in peace, Jonas deserts and hides at his father’s place. Stuber, whom he hasn’t seen or spoken to since childhood. As Jonas is getting to know his father, a connection between the generations, going as far back as the war of the past, reveals itself. Jonas begins to understand that his identity, his self-perception and the two wars are inextricably intertwined. When he pledges to help a fleeing stranger and the military police are on the cusp of finding him out, the dispute between Jonas and his father, who isn’t willing to compromise his own safety any further, comes to a head. The situation escalates and results in catastrophe, leading Jonas, feeling overwhelmed, disappointed and scared, to burden himself with guilt before the war has even begun. Now Jonas needs to find a way to deal with his shattered identity in a changing world.
